April is Autism Awareness Month - A personal note from the owners of SDD

SL and I have always supported autism awareness from the outside looking in until now.... As of very recently our son was diagnosed with Aspergers Syndrome, which is part of the Autism spectrum. And while we are new to the information about this syndrome we know how it affects our child everyday and we know first hand how it affects the families of these beautiful children.  

We want to show our support for these families and these children and implore you to do the same by simply "Lighting It Up Blue" in April. I have changed the forum colors to reflect this as well as putting up blue Christmas lights in our windows and wearing blue on Friday.  It may not seem like much but trust me, the knowledge of simply knowing you have someone's support truly touches our hearts.

who portrays a boy with Aspergers.... its a good show and it shows alot about Aspergers..i think the board looks good...

Actually we do watch that show lol We love Max! He reminds us so much of our little guy. In fact, I'm getting ready to watch it shortly

I have a cousin who has a little boy with autism and know the struggles and sacrafices that have to be made daily and I so support those that have the courage and strength to be willing to do everything they can for their child. ...blue is my favorite color and I think the board looks great p , hugs to you andd SL and your son and wish you all the best *S*

I am not sure if too many know but I work with kids that have learning disabilities and autism and they are my angels...I can walk in that school in a bad mood but as soon as I see their faces the entire room lights up and my mood is completely different and more so when they come running to me wanting a hug...You cant ask for anything better than that...precious I love the layout you did for the board for the month and your little guy is truly blessed you have parents like you and SL....I bet he is one sweet boy and give him a hug for me...The Autism Foundation always gets my support and I have a blue ribbon on my keychain and it has been there for years *S*

the journey we travel as parents often is a rocky road, and having a child that has special needs certainly puts extra challenges to parents, siblings and others in the family. 

autism has touched me closely as a family member has it, he is the most beautiful and dearly loved child, who is now growing into a beautiful young man, but its not been an easy path for his parents and sibling.  i also have a dear friend online who is a single parent of His son who also has autism, He inspires me daily as i see His commitment to His child.

As i have told you p my daughter has it and each and every day she has been with me lights up my life, she has other problems as well but each day is a new day and she is slowly learning and getting better. I am support the cause to help learn more about this along with other learning disabilities that might in the future have ways of correcting the problem.
